Yaroslavl - Unknown Former Capital of Russia ! 
Yarolslavl, one of the seven cities of Russia's Golden Ring lies on the upper reaches of the River Volga to the west of the reservoirs. It was founded in the early 11th century by Yaroslavl the Wise. In 1213 it became the residence of an independent princedom and was annexed by Moscow in 1463. When the Poles occupied Moscow in 1612, for s short period it became the capital of Russia. Russia's first public theatre was opened in Yaroslavl at this time and the town became an important focus for trade and culture in North East Europe. The low houses of the old city give the place great charm.
