Kizhi - Misty Island Beauty 
Kizhi is a small narrow island measuring only 1km by 6km. Its position in the northern part of Lake Onega results in morning mists and breathtaking sunrises in the summer. The island's most interesting aspects, however are the myths that surround it. A visit to the island is reputed to cure illness, guarantee continued happiness and increased wealth ! The collection of wooden churches, chapels, bell towers, houses, barns, windmills and bathing huts that are spread out along the southern tip of the island is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
